RE: Does anybody else use Presto logs???

They do make the "fake" logs intended for outdoor use. Maybe certain brands have more of a smell. It's funny... I haven't noticed any unpleasant odor - but I will watch for it next time. I do notice the odor of chemically "treated" wood being burned.

RE: What are the best trails in Smoky Mountains?

The Grotto Falls hike is very good if you have children. We did it about 5 yrs ago. Not sure of recent status.

RE: Changing a Family Traditon

We live far away from extended family, so we like to camp at Thanksgiving. This year we are actually getting to meet some family just befoe thanksgiving. They are driving part of the way to meet us! We r looking forward to it. I love camping over Thanksgiving. Great weather and everyone in the CG is usually in a good mood.

RE: Does anybody else use Presto logs???

IN my experience they have been less smoky. Maybe because wet or unseasoned wood can cause smoke and we dont always get good wood. Have been very happy smoke-wise with them, and my son has asthma. We use the "fake" wood often and are very happy. We like a small fire for ambience and a little warmth in fall - they are perfect. I especially like that we can leave some in the rv and not worry about finding firewood each trip. I've never used any of the Duraflame or pressed logs, so please forgive my newbie question(newbie to firepits)-are they any less smoky than the typical cg firewood bundles? Thanks! Let me ask again-Are these logs any less, about the same, or more smoky than plain old wood? I don't want to choke my neighbors...

RE: Urban Legends

Too funny! Thanks for the laugh wa8yxm! :) ... Cute story but it's a bit like the story of the thief who went to siphon some gas out of a motor home and got the wrong tank.

RE: how early is to early

Guess it depends on how noisy you are and how noise travels where you are staying. We've left before 5am some days to avoid am rush hours. But we just pull up the levels, unplug the cord, and are on our way. No deisel to warm up etc.

RE: Banking question

I have to give kudos to those organized enough to store and rotate even a 30 day supply of food, water, toiletries, etc for a family of four. At least cash isn't even remotely - under normal conditions -perishable :)

RE: Gas Avilablility in GA

Recent news reports say that it may be a few weeks before the gas supply issue gets better. Personally, I wouldn't want to be in a situation where I needed to buy gas around Atlanta. I hear the shortages are in neighbooring states now too. If you are headed this way, I would do it with a full tank :) Good Luck.

RE: Those poor Bluehairs

Have to agree with Finally Fulltiming :) OK, here's your first flamer.... Why do you feel the need to impose your choice of "music" on others. Do you really believe that everyone else within earshot enjoys it? Or you just do it to irritate others? How would you like it if the Bluehairs blared church organ music at you? And most of all, why bother to pay for a campsite at all? Just stay home & blow out your own eardrums.

RE: We're officially RV'ers

Welcome to the RV world. We had a KZ TT and loved it. Happy with the warranty service also (minor stuff). There are also KZ forums if you are into that kinda thing. Happy Camping

RE: ? on driving down the road in a class C

This ? comes up alot. We always belt. The safest seats in a C are in the cab. But all passengers in out rv must be buckled no matter where they sit. We do get up momentarily sometimes to get soda etc. Get up more frequently during traffic jams where mph is around 10 for miles and miles... "time for a slow motion lunch!"

RE: Do you lock your doors when you leave your rv when at a park

Always, always lock them... but my first thought on this post was: Not going to tell you as everyone will know then.

RE: Another Hairball - ? ?

I have "picky" cats. The only treats they eat are Whiska Temptations. They have a "hairball control" one. This might help. I get mine at grocery stores, pet stores, etc. They are about $2-3 bag depending on size and sales. Here is a link to some reviews on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Whiskas-Temptations-Hairball-Control-Treats/dp/B000BXUVYG edited to add link

RE: the pocket campground in north ga.

If you do need hookups - Sloppy Floyd state park and Cloudland canyon are nice.

RE: Any African American Families camping/Rving in Georgia?

I am not African American, but I may have a lead to a camping club. There was an African American camping club featured on a Georgia State parks TV show on cable awhile back. I dont remember the name of the club. I may still have it on DVR - I'll see if I can find out more and post later. Happy Camping :) I checked my DVR and do not have the episode anymore. It was a "Georgia Outdoors" show. Sorry I dont have more info.
